This is the heart of LASC. Not a cover charge with conversation on the side. Planned classes, workshops, and forums — with a host who will stop the room if it goes sideways.
Four strands
What a year of evenings adds up to
Every listing on the calendar lives in one of these. Together they teach how to talk, how to care, how to use your hands, and how to hold a room for someone else.
Talking and boundaries
Listening. Saying no without drama. Sitting in conflict without making it worse. How to be in a group as a decent adult.
How we treat each other
Shared language. Community standards. Informed choices. Hosting that remembers people have histories.
Hands-on skill
Practice with a teacher watching. Safety, technique, knowing the risk, using tools and space like they matter.
Holding the room
Peer forums and a monthly online talk so members across the Northeast can keep learning without the drive.

How often we meet to learn
Titles change. This pattern doesn't. Exact nights live on the calendar. Classes and workshops: staff complimentary · members $10, prepaid on Zeffy. Members only.

Who teaches
Hosts, not performers
Our team, trained volunteers, or outside teachers who apply with a plan. Presenters agree to the Code of Conduct before we put them on the calendar.
If you teach adults — communication, ethics, facilitation, a craft — and you want an evening here, apply.
How we know it's working
We keep records because we care
- A public calendar with titles, dates, and fees
- Who came — members and guests
- A host debrief after every session
- A written path if something goes wrong
- A board that reviews membership, teaching, and money
- No yearly dues, so access is easy to see
The room has rules
So everyone can think.
These protect the people beside you, the neighbors, and the reason we bother to teach at all.
- AgeAdult programs are 18+. We check ID. Family Days are the only nights with children, and those children stay with the adult who brought them.
- Code of ConductRespect. Privacy. Safety. Harassment, discrimination, and violence get you removed.
- A host is presentEvery session. First aid and an AED are on site.
- PrivacyNo recording without permission. Directions to The Lodge go to registered people only.
- AccountabilityProblems go to the board. Outcomes can be a conversation, a pause, or a goodbye.
