Our Story
LASC was founded in 2025 to give adults in the Hudson Valley a reliable place to learn communication, community ethics, and group facilitation — and to practice those skills in a setting with published rules and accountable hosts.
Too many adult gathering spaces are informal, under-supervised, or driven by profit. We chose the nonprofit form so every decision can be judged against public benefit: education first, access kept affordable, and a path toward a community-owned facility.
The Lodge, our current program site in the Hudson Valley, is the classroom and workshop space where that work happens. Purchasing a permanent home for this programming is our capital priority.
Who We Serve
Members and guests come from healthcare, education, skilled trades, business, the arts, and public service. Ages range from 18 through 70 and older. Urban and rural Hudson Valley residents participate alongside people from the wider Northeast.
Adults who want practical education in communication, personal responsibility, and community ethics — not a drop-in social club.
A multi-generational group of professionals, tradespeople, caregivers, and retirees who can commit to scheduled programs.
People who live and work in the region and want a local, well-run place for adult education and civic belonging.
Members who host, teach, and keep programs running. LASC is built by the people who show up to do the work.
We welcome adults of every background who agree to our Code of Conduct. Harassment and discrimination are not tolerated.
New participants attend orientation and selected programs as guests, then complete an application and board review for full membership.
How We Are Run
A board of directors reviews membership applications, program direction, and finances. Day-to-day hosting is done by a small core team and trained volunteers.
A published Code of Conduct covers respectful participation, privacy of other attendees, and safety of the site. Violations can result in suspension or removal.
There are no annual dues. Modest program fees cover operations. Donations through our capital campaign go to the community facility, not to private owners.
The education center address is shared with registered participants. That protects attendees and neighboring residents — standard practice for a community facility of this kind.
